I Am A Fantasy
Margaret Harrison is one of the original riot girls – her first London show was closed by police for ‘indecency’ and a picture of Hugh Hefner as a Bunny Girl mysteriously disappeared. Forty years on, aged 70, the British feminist artist who stormed Miss World in 1970 and was a founder member of the Greenham Common peace camp, is back with
I Am A Fantasy. The exhibition will include a recreation of the Hefner bunny painting, depict pop culture figures like David Walliams, Jennifer Lopez and Kate Moss in raunchy/ grotesque satirical drawing and watercolour, and will also feature her set of ‘dead Marilyn’ portraits – I Am A Fantasy is quote from the blonde icon herself. Margaret, who has seven paintings in the Tate, will be joined by fearless 30-something feminist artists The Girls, enacting live scenes from Hans Christian Anderson tales. /
